About the Role

The Research Contracts Manager role is a temporary post to support the delivery of contracts for a key UKRI project led by the RCA, the UKRI Interdisciplinary Textiles Circularity Centre. 

Working closely with the TCC project team, the Research Contracts Manager will review, draft, and negotiate agreements for the TCC project. Agreements may include a wide range of commercial and non-commercial agreements, amendments and associated documents involving industry, Research Councils, government departments, charities, NGOs and other higher education institutions. 

Key Responsibilities include:

- Oversee and execute a wide variety of research and research-related agreements for the TCC including research collaboration agreements; studentships; non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements; services agreements; memoranda of understanding; data sharing agreements; material transfer agreements;  loan agreements; industry collaborations, Knowledge Exchange and Consultancy agreements.

- Plan and organise the workload for this project, ensuring that the timeframes match project needs and that partner expectations are managed appropriately.

- Liaise with project investigators to map the workflows and identify potential project outcomes and intellectual property. Utilise the mapping to identify activity types and appropriate agreement types that match activities.

- Draft agreements per activity type, using standard agreement templates to support collaborator understanding.

- Own the negotiation process with collaborators to promptly and pragmatically achieve the optimal contractual terms, including with respect to appropriate limitation of liability, retention of publication rights, framing intellectual property rights, sustainable pricing and other key Higher Education contract related issues.
