The Royal College of Art is the world’s pre-eminent art and design university. The College is home to some 1,780 students from more than 65 countries, pursuing a range of post-graduate courses and fields of doctoral research. 
 
The RCA operates on sites in Kensington and Battersea, and from autumn 2017 White City, with a total estate of 31,868 square metres consisting of both purpose built and converted buildings. These include the Grade 2 listed Darwin building (1961) in Kensington, Sackler Building (2007), Dyson Building (2012) and Woo Building (2015) in Battersea.
 
The College is seeking to appoint Premises Assistants to deliver a range of facilities support and premises services ensuring high levels of customer service at all times. Premises Assistants may be required to move between sites to ensure that operational needs are met.Duties of the role include painting and decorating, minor repairs to fixtures and fittings, wall mounting and ad hoc non-technical requests. The role will assist with small internal office moves and in setting up and de-rigging for exhibitions, events and meetings. 
 
It is essential that the successful candidate has experience of manual handling and safety awareness, as well as an understanding of best practice principles. An understanding of how to dynamically risk assess jobs and make use of PPE where appropriate is required. The successful candidate will also be able to communicate effectively at all levels, with a proactive attitude. Experience in Fire Evacuation/marshalling and First Aid certification would be highly desirable.
