  1. I am applying for more than one job, do I need to fill out a separate application form?

For every post advertised you must ensure that you complete a separate online application form. You cannot use one online application form to apply for more than one job. Information related to personal details, eduction/training and referees will be saved for you to resubmit or amend to suit subsequent applications.

  2. Can you tell me if you have received my application?

Once we receive your application online we will send you an email to confirm receipt.

  3. I have made some mistakes on my application form - how can I correct them?

Unfortunately, once you have submitted your application form online you cannot change your details.

  4. Who should I provide as my referees?

Your referees must be able to assess your suitability for the post.

One of the nominated referees should be a manager from your current or most recent employment. If you have just completed full-time education, your course tutor, or other academic staff member familiar with your work, could be selected. Family members or personal friends should not be named as referees.

  5. How long will I have to wait to find out if my application is successful?

The time that we will take to respond to candidates will vary from post to post depending on how many applications we receive. However, all candidates will be notified as to the outcome of their application within a few weeks of the closing date.

In exceptional circumstances where the shortlisting process takes longer than expected, candidates will be contacted.

  6. Can you send me a paper application pack?

All applications must be made on on line, on our user friendly system. If you consider yourself to be disabled under the definition of the Equality Act 2010 and require reasonable adjustments to the application process, please contact Laura.Rogan@rca.ac.uk, in confidence, in advance of your application in order that we may make appropriate arrangements.

  7. What is the Equal Opportunities Form used for?

The Royal College of Art is committed to creating an environment of mutual respect, where differences are valued and respected and where innovation, creativity and diversity can flourish. Positive working relationships - whether between staff and staff, staff and students or students and students - are central to this. Mutual respect is facilitated by the promotion of values of dignity, courtesy and respect, alongside a culture of zero tolerance of bullying and harassment.

To monitor the operation of this policy it is necessary to collect information from all applicants and staff on the key characteristics that relate to equal opportunities in employment.

The information collected will be stored and processed in accordance with Data Protection Principles for the purpose of preparing anonymised statistical reports. The information collected will form a confidential record. It will be used only to monitor the operation of the Equality & Diversity Policy. All data collected is covered by the Data Protection Act (1998).

The information will not be made available to the selection panel and will not, therefore, be used in any part of the recruitment decision making process.

  8. How do we protect your information?

In compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998 the information contained in your application is used to shortlist and select for each position you apply for. If you are sucessful in your application, your application and equal opportunities information will form part of your hard copy and electronic personal file and your personal data will be used for employment and payroll processing purposes. For candidates who are not successful in their application, the information is usually kept for a period of one year after the closing date and then destroyed. Only collated, anonymised data from the Equal Opportunities Monitoring section is kept after that period to enable effective monitoring to take place.  In a small number of cases we are required to keep recruitment information longer than one year, until informed by the UKVI that it can be destroyed.

By completing and submitting an application, you consent to the College processing such personal data as may be necessary for the proper administration of its recruitment and selection processes.

  9. Why do I have to register to apply for a job?

Registration ensures that site users are aware of the Terms Of Use for the website and it also provides access to a personalised area of the website, 'My Applications', which enables you to more easily manage your application with the College.
