Associate Lecturer – Service Design (School of Design)

About the School of Design:
The School of Design at the Royal College of Art (RCA) engages with a wide range of design disciplines, from industrial design to service design, critical design, and social innovation. With a strong focus on innovation, experimentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration, the School encourages students to explore the boundaries of design and engage in debates that span new materials, globalisation, and sustainability.
About the Service Design Programme:
Since its establishment in 2011, the RCA Service Design programme has become a world-leading course, producing influential designers in the commercial and public sectors. The programme offers a one-year MA and supports research at MPhil/PhD levels. It brings together students from diverse disciplines, including engineering, technology, design, and business, guiding them through service design projects, teamwork, and innovation processes. The programme is closely aligned with industry and public sector partners, offering students practical, team-based projects along with academic frameworks and expert seminars.
Role Profile – Associate Lecturer (Service Design):
The Associate Lecturer (AL) will contribute to high-quality, postgraduate teaching in the Service Design programme. ALs at the RCA bring diverse expertise from various sectors and disciplines, enhancing students' learning through practical experience and multidisciplinary perspectives. The role requires a strong understanding of service design methodologies, as well as the ability to deliver teaching that meets individual students' needs while fostering their personal and professional development.
