Founded in 1837, the RCA brings together a diverse international community of artists, designers, researchers and practitioners working at the forefront of their fields.</p><p><strong>About the School and Programme</strong></p><p>The School of Communication and Design explores design across a broad spectrum, from industry-focused practice and collaboration with engineering and science, to experimental and theoretical approaches.</p><p>The <strong>MA/MDes Intelligent Mobility Design</strong> programme builds on the RCA&rsquo;s rich history in vehicle and mobility design, exploring the profound social, cultural and technological changes shaping the future of mobility. The programme considers areas including autonomous systems, renewable power, demographic change and the evolving relationship between people and technology.</p><p>Working closely with industry, the programme challenges conventional approaches to mobility and explores new possibilities for future mobility artefacts, experiences, brands and markets.</p><p><strong>About the role</strong></p><p>We are seeking an outstanding <strong>vehicle or automotive designer</strong> with recent commercial experience either from an OEM or design consultancy background, to join the Intelligent Mobility Design masters programme and play an integral role within the wider Intelligent Mobility Design Centre (IMDC).</p><p>You will bring professional expertise, creativity and a passion for working with postgraduate students, supporting them throughout their design journey. You will contribute to teaching across the programme through tutorials, lectures, workshops, seminars and critiques, helping students develop ambitious and innovative design responses to the challenges and opportunities of future mobility.</p><p>You will also contribute to assessment, student support and the wider organisation of exhibitions and events, working collaboratively with colleagues across the School and the RCA.</p><p>This is an exciting opportunity for a practitioner who wants to contribute to a world-leading postgraduate environment and help shape the next generation of designers working across the rapidly evolving field of intelligent mobility.</p><p><strong>About you</strong></p><p>You will have:</p><ul type="disc"><li>A degree in a relevant discipline, ideally with a postgraduate qualification.</li><li>Significant professional or practice-based experience within Intelligent Mobility or a related field.</li><li>Experience of teaching, supervising and/or mentoring students at undergraduate or postgraduate level.</li><li>Experience of devising and delivering teaching, workshops, seminars, critiques or related learning activities.</li><li>Experience of setting and assessing student work and providing constructive feedback.</li><li>The ability to supervise and support Master&#39;s-level academic and design projects.</li><li>A commitment to creating an inclusive, positive and stimulating learning environment.</li><li>The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.</li></ul><p>We are particularly interested in practitioners who can bring contemporary industry knowledge, emerging perspectives and innovative approaches to the future of mobility.</p><p><strong>Join us</strong></p><p>This is a permanent, <strong>0.6 FTE</strong> opportunity to join the Royal College of Art and contribute to an ambitious programme at the intersection of design, technology, society and future mobility.</p><p>If you are an experienced practitioner and educator with a passion for intelligent mobility and a desire to inspire the next generation of designers, we would love to hear from you.</p><p><strong>Closing date:</strong> 11.59pm on 27 October 2026<br><strong>Interviews: TBC</strong></p>
